////DJ 3rd Rail

Being in the hip hop culture for over 14 years on the radio frequency's in Chicago. Seeing trend after trend for years, we figured we know what real hip hop should sound like. So "Dj P-Lee Fresh" and myself got together and did what needed to be done. P-Lee founder of "jazz child records" and producer of "mental giants" have started this label to bring you the best hip hop records that are so far and few these days. Our goal is to give you the best hip hop on wax (record). What you'll find is lyrics and beats. Being a college dj for 14 years we know the importance of clean versions of songs. So we made it a priority that all songs have clean versions. Also a fan of dope beats, We have included our all our records with instrumentals. No stranger to mix tapes with over 60 different ones, and 37 copies of "subway hip hop" . I have single handedly been the king of mix tapes in Chicago for 10 years. We also returning to the mix tapes or mix cd's with the introduction of "subway hip hop vol 38". These mix have been all over the world even Japan. My first trip in 1995 saw first hand the impact of my tapes when visiting several stores and seeing store clerks take the tapes out of the tape decks. Then asking for pictures is something that has made making these mixes worth it. Also being a dj I know that dope records are hard to find. So for years we have brought extra copies of rare and just dope records that maybe hard to find. So we are also selling records that you may not have. All original copies. Every penny we earn goes back to keeping hip hop real and true. Most of our own product won't be found in stores all over the world, for the simple fact that were not getting invovled in the "90 day consignment will pay you later circus" that has seen so many dope artist and labels go under and just give up. The product we bring you is limited and the site will be updated several times a week, depending on product. All money's on new releases will get back to the artist. We have a personal friendship with the artist.

Pass the word, and let them know that real hip hop has a new site.

love is love

///AKBAR

My story begins in the Bronx, birthplace of what we now call hip-hop. Back then we just called ourselves B-Boys during a time when the streets of NY was bubblin with a new sound that could be heard in every ghetto blaster and every block party from the Boogie Down to Brooklyn. This is the era that influenced me the most. At around the age of 13 or 14 moms and pops moved us to Chicago right around 82 before hip hop had even reached the mid west.

Being homesick I just statred going out and tagging up my neighborhood. A few years later after the release of movies like Beat Street and Wild Style to name a few hip hop quickly became the innercity buzz which put me in Chicagos forefront. I soon after met and formed a crew called TCP (The Crowd Pleasers) with P-Lee also a NY native from the LES. We represented all the facets of the culture from grafitti, to breaking, emceeing, and DJing.

As the years rolled Chicagos underground grew. Around '94 we reformed the group calling ourselves the Mental Giants and took a more serious stab at the industry recording our 1st serious demo which later sparked the interest of Jamalski who was at that time an artist on Columbia. I landed a cameo on his '94 album entitled Roughneck Reality with a song called Akbars Groove. This 2 min rhyme spree gave me some underground shine. Unhappy with the industy politics we  went on to start our own label Jazzchild records and put out our own singles.

The following songs are available ONLY on subway hip hop records:
